A tunable electromagnetic metagrating

We explore electromagnetic (EM) wave incidence upon gratings of reconfigurable metamaterial cylinders, which collectively act as a metagrating, to identify their potential subwavelength surfaces. The metacylinders are created by closely spaced, microstructured array thin plates that, in the limit small inter-plate spacing, described semi-analytical continuum model. build metacylinder analysis water waves, translating this EM for TE polarization (longitudinal magnetic field) exhibit anisotropic scattering; is exploited multiple scattering light an infinite metagrating uniform cylinder radius and angle, we retrieve far-field reflection transmission spectra plane-wave incidence. These reveal unusual effects including perfect negative Goos–Hänchen shift transmitted field, well symmetry coefficients. also hosts Rayleigh–Bloch surface whose dispersion contingent on shifting under rotation towards light-line angle approaches horizontal. For both calculation array-guided modes, principal variable determining interaction, tunable simply through constituent metacylinders.
